Secret Invasion “Horrifying” AI Opening Credits Split MCU Fans

The first episode of the highly-anticipated MCU’s Secret Invasion series is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. It focuses on Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, who attempts to stop Skrulls from invading Earth. The old man cannot trust anyone except his allies, such as Talos (who is himself a Skrull), Maria Hill, and Everett K. Ross. The early reactions to the series were mostly positive. However, the reactions towards its opening credits do not look good at all. In fact, they are AI-made.

Most MCU fans are disappointed with Secret Invasion’s AI-generated opening credits. The sequence looks bizarre, filled with excessive greenery and swirling visuals.

The show’s helmer, Ali Selim, discussed the process of generating the show’s opening sequences through AI in a recent interview with Polygon.

“When we reached out to the AI vendors, that was part of it — it just came right out of the shape-shifting, Skrull world identity, you know? Who did this? Who is this? We would talk to them about ideas and themes and words, and then the computer would go off and do something. And then we could change it a little bit by using words, and it would change,” the director said.

The concept of AI art has become a highly controversial topic these days. While some are mesmerised by its scope, others have raised concerns about it, with a specific focus on artists’ rights.

A Twitter user declared the show’s opening credits “the worst intro for any TV show ever”. Some MCU fans have called them “gross” and “horrifying”.
