Sequel, Hindi Remake Of Blockbuster Film ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ In The Works!

Telugu film ‘Jathi Ratnalu‘ has been declared an unqualified hit worldwide. The film has done roaring business not only in India but also in Covid-19 curtailed US cinemas. In fact, Jathi Ratnalu has even beaten the collections of Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamil hit ‘Master’ in a few US markets. Now, writer-director Anudeep has declared that he’s very keen on making a sequel to the hit comedy film. Not only that, he’s even locked the script for the sequel, and hopes to make another rollicking comedy that’ll appeal to the masses.

Another buzz related to Jathi Ratnalu doing the rounds is that several Bollywood filmmakers are eyeing the film for its Hindi remake rights. There’s also buzz that the makers want three well-known Bollywood stars to reprise the roles played by Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna in the Telugu original.

Of course, no names have been made public, and nothing has been finalised yet. ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ also stars Faria Abdullah and Brahmaji in pivotal roles. The narrative of the hilarious comedy centres on the three lead actors who play childhood buddies in the film. Bickering and bantering their way through life, things turn murky when the three friends get caught up in a grave situation concerning a dangerous politician, played by Murali Sharma.

Jathi Ratnalu is a madcap entertainer, filled with laugh-out-loud gags and hi-jinks. Unfortunately, owing to it being in Telugu, non-Telugu audiences have missed out on the fun. This makes it an ideal film to reprise in Hindi, along the lines of Hera Pheri and Dhamaal. A Hindi remake therefore makes ample sense.
