It seems to be renewal time for web series this week. With their current runs being appreciated by viewers, several popular shows have been renewed for fresh outings. A few of these shows are Indian Originals, and the rest are foreign. Read on to find out which series have been renewed for fresh seasons and on which platform –
Four More Shots Please, on Amazon Prime Video:
This is one of the few Indian Original series on Amazon Prime Video to have found a loyal audience among Indian viewers. The Indian take on Sex And The City, it just premiered its Season 2 in mid-April. As most reviews said, the new season of Four More Shots Please was supposedly better than the first. Gladdened by the response, Amazon Prime Video has just handed out a new season order to the creators. Four More Shots Please Season 3 will most likely premiere in 2021.
Samantar, on MX Player:
The edgy Marathi drama, Samantar, on MX Player, caught the imagination of Indian viewers, hungry as they are for good content. Replete with supernatural and fantastical elements to the storyline, it is dark, gripping and atmospheric. Appreciated by most viewers and critics, no wonder it has been renewed for Season 2.
Dead To Me, Netflix:
The smart, cinematic comedy, crackling with intrigue, features two sassy women who form an unlikely bond of friendship. Both women have secrets to hide, and inner demons to fight. There are murders, hit-and-runs and lots of suspense in both seasons of the series. Not only in Western countries, Dead To Me has also found a loyal audience in India. Its not even been two days since it premiered Season 2, and Netflix has already announced Season 3 of Dead To Me.

The sharp comedy from Greg Daniels, creator of The Office, is a sign of our times. The series, set in 2033, has an interesting premise. In the near future, people have the option of uploading their consciousness to a virtual afterlife when they die. An ‘angel’ is also assigned to them in this virtual afterlife who helps them get acclimatised to the new life. It’s an intelligent comedy, and has enthralled viewers across the world. Just a week after the first season premiered, Amazon Prime Video has renewed it for Season 2.
Extraction, Netflix:
The Chris Hemsworth starrer Extraction has shattered all previous records at Netflix, and is on track to grab the record for biggest film debut. It is projected to capture 90 million views at the end of the first month of streaming. The action thriller is obviously the prime candidate for renewal, and Netflix has obliged. Extraction 2 is in the works, but it won’t be set in India, as per the announcements made by makers, the Russo Brothers.
