Kanguva is exactly what everyone feared it could be. The movie high on spectacle has absolutely nothing other than the visuals. You see, we realise that there is a severe need for content that celebrates our roots in the market. But, at the same time, makers need to be aware of the fact that the audience will not take just any crap from them.
The makers of Kanguva forgot exactly that. There is no problem with the presentation. Even the style and scale are top-notch. But, these things are meant to elevate a point, they are not points in themselves.
Anyway, Kanguva is getting negative reactions from all over the place. With this going on, we are highly doubtful if the makers would have the audacity to make the second part.
But, what about the OTT deal?
You see, if a film comes out to be an epic failure then OTT platforms simply tend to avoid it. They don’t release the film or delay it to an extent that no excitement remains.
Now, Kanguva’s OTT deal is due in Pongal next year. With this response, let’s be hopeful that the film gets released on OTT without any hassle because it may get pushed just like Thangalaan.
Meanwhile, things are really difficult for K.E. Gnanavel Raja as he is the producer of both Thangalaan and Kanguva.
