In a shocking revelation, Sakshi Chopra, a well-known television personality and singer, has come forward with disturbing claims against the makers of the Netflix reality show, Social Currency. In a lengthy social media post, she detailed her harrowing experience on the show, accusing the producers of violating the terms of her contract and subjecting her to appalling treatment, including denial of basic necessities like food.
Sakshi, who happens to be the granddaughter of Ramanand Sagar’s son, Moti Sagar, exposed the alleged misconduct she endured while participating in the show. According to her contract, she was supposed to have one daily phone call with her mother. However, when she attempted to expose the misbehavior of the show’s creators, her phone was forcefully taken away from her. She further alleged that the producers compelled her to engage in uncomfortable tasks, such as persuading strangers to scratch her back and making suggestive sounds in public just to earn a meal.
The post commenced with a distressing caption, SEXUAL HARASSMENT at @netflix_in @solproductions_ I only signed because one call a day was PROMISED – In my contract. @netflix_in CHASED me for over a year even holding a respect team meeting to assure me what kind of show it was as I initially refused. @showrunnerchad SUFFOCATED me with calls & messages begging to be on this. They mislead me into believing it’s ONLY a game show with fun tasks like singing, content creation – No gossip no drama ONLY games. They didn’t give us food, not even behind the cameras.…Who the f*** lies to get someone to sign a contract & lock them in a house? Just bc I am bold in my choice of dressing, they assumed I would be okay with this dirt. I enjoy my music, family, self expression & peace. That’s all I want in my life. I was very clear if I didn’t get a call a day, I will not sign because I can’t live without mama. So they promised all these things & simply ignored them after I was in. After what one contestant, Mridul openly said about my breasts & my a**, for them to record & play it for everyone to hear, plus make me hear it & hope for a reaction just for the sake of your ratings, after assuring me for one year it’s only a game show – WHAT?”
Furthermore, Sakshi divulged that the producers went to the extent of allowing another contestant, who she referred to as “him,” to stay locked in the same house with her. This distressing situation proved to be suffocating, revealing the low moral standards of the show’s producers, who seemed willing to stoop to any level for the sake of sensational entertainment. When she attempted to inform her mother, Meenakshi, about her ordeal, the producers refused to let her have a conversation, snatching away her phone.
As this scandal unfolds, all eyes are on Netflix and the production team of Social Currency. The public awaits their response and hopes for a swift and fair resolution to address the serious allegations brought forth by Sakshi Chopra. The outcome of this controversy will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the future of reality TV and the responsibility of platforms to ensure the safety and welfare of their participants.
