Bollywood fantasy drama ‘Brahmastra‘ hit theatres this week. As per reports in the media, the Ranbir Kapoor – Alia Bhatt starrer is setting the cash registers ringing. In a much-needed reprieve for Bollywood, the Hindi film has been pronounced a hit.
The most talked about element of Brahmastra is the intriguing cameo by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, aka King Khan. Theatre audiences seem to be enraptured by Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo in Brahmastra. Some reports even point to extended hooting and clapping in the theatres when Shah Rukh Khan’s makes an appearance in the film. Those who’ve watched Brahmastra in the theatres say that Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo is the high point of the film.
All of this has had a cascading effect in the unlikeliest of places — Netflix India! It seems as if Shah Rukh Khan’s fleeting appearances in recent films — Rocketry, Laal Singh Chaddha, and now Brahmastra — have whetted the appetite of his legions of fans. But there’s no way to satiate their wish to watch the superstar in action. His comeback film ‘Pathaan’ is slated to release in theatres only on 25th January 2023. What until then?
Well, until then, Shah Rukh Khan fans have hit upon the easiest way to satisfy their desire to watch Shah Rukh Khan – re-watch his old films. The result – not one, not two, but three Shah Rukh Khan films are trending on the Netflix India Top Ten Movies since the last couple of weeks. They are Dilwale at #5; Dear Zindagi at #8; and Happy New Year at #9!
Phew! While the rest of the world is trending ‘The Crown’ on the Netflix Top Ten after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we in India are mooning over Shah Rukh Khan and trending his films on Netflix India!
Just goes to show the power of King Khan on his fans, what say?
