Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his production house Red Chillies Entertainment have just dropped the trailer for their hotly awaited new movie ‘Dunki’. And if the 3-minute long trailer is anything to go by, Dunki offers a singularly unique story for Shah Rukh Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani’s fans to enjoy. Dunki premieres in theatres worldwide on 21st December, 2023.
The trailer hints that the story of Dunki will span 25 years, starting from Shah Rukh Khan’s Hardy entry in the small town of Laltu in Punjab and his friendship with a bunch of youngsters – all with similar aspirations to move to London for better job prospects.
The trailer showcases their trials and tribulations in their journey to London through the notorious “Donkey Flight”, a backdoor means of getting into the UK illegally. The Donkey Flight is colloquially termed ‘Dunki’. Shah Rukh Khan is an immediate scene-stealer in the Dunki trailer, as is Vicky Kaushal, who plays the adorable Sukhi.
Interestingly, the story fast-forwards to 25 years later towards the end of the trailer, and we get a glimpse of a middle-aged Shah Rukh Khan, albeit running like a 25-year-old in a race. Though we don’t know the reason for the same, the Dunki story seems to be quite unique and different from other run-of-the-mill plots.
Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover also make an appearance in the trailer. Dharmendra, Dia Mirza, Satish Shah, Parikshit Sahni, among others, are the rest of the cast, though they are missing in the Dunki trailer, aka Dunki Drop 4.
Dunki is written by Rajkumar Hirani, along with Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon. The music for the film is composed by Pritam. Dunki premieres in theatres on 21st December, 2023. Have a look at the trailer of the Shah Rukh Khan film –
