Shahid Kapoor‘s ‘Jersey’ remake has just hit theatres today. The film is getting rave reviews from audiences. Shahid Kapoor is especially earning massive appreciation for his stellar acting in Jersey. Some have even labelled it the best acting of his career, better than even Kabir Singh and Jab We Met. For those who don’t know, Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Jersey’ is the official Hindi remake of Nani’s Telugu film of the same name.
Now that Jersey is out in the theatres and earning accolades, the primary query on the minds of most OTT viewers is when will Jersey stream on OTT, and where. Netflix is on board as the official and exclusive streaming partner for Jersey. So the film will stream only on Netflix and on no other platform.
The norm in the entertainment industry today is to have an exclusive 4-week theatrical window for Hindi films, before they arrive on OTT. Going by that thumb rule, Jersey will mostly premiere on Netflix on 20th May, exactly 28 days after its theatrical release.
There’s a small chance that the makers and Netflix may want to release the film on streaming sooner than the 4-week theatrical window. That is in the event that the film fizzles out in the theatres sooner than expected. We can then expect Jersey to release on Netflix on 13th May itself.
Jersey is the story of a talented but failed cricketer who returns to the sport in his late thirties in order to realise his potential, as well as to fulfil his son’s wish for a Jersey as a gift.
