There must be 100 such cases in history when Indians have claimed that a certain Indian film is up to the Hollywood level. First of all, comparing everything with American films is just another reflection of our inferiority complex that we try to overcome by enjoying films that are apparently of Hollywood standards.
But is it really true?
Can we really beat Hollywood through films like Kalki 2898 AD, Robot, Brahmastra or even RRR?
NEVER.
Arshad Warsi is on the hit list of Tollywood fans for his comment on Prabhas. Even Nani jumped into the pool. Nag Ashwin showed some sensitivity but the fans are going all crazy. Now, an old interview with Arshad Warsi is going viral. He is saying that the people working in his house watch South Indian films because they are entertaining.
Now, people added spice through the word “servant”.
But, even Rajamouli once said something problematic about Hrithik Roshan in the past.
The list is actually endless and our generation is the biggest fool.
Take the case of the 1950s. Padmini from Kerala, Vyjayanthimala from Tamil Nadu, Guru Dutt from Karnataka, Bimal Roy from West Bengal, P. Banumathi from Andhra Pradesh etc were making great films without keeping any language barrier in their mind.
Perhaps that’s the reason we see so many great films being made in India during that period. Today, people have evolved backwards and they keep on fighting over trivial small things.
India can never compete against International cinema if people keep fighting over their language identity.
Instead, Indians should come together and make great films together just the way they did in the 1950s. In those days Mumbai was the biggest centre for making films, today it can be Hyderabad or Chennai too.
But as long as Bollywood people keep insulting South Indian cinema and as long as South Indian cinema stars stay in their bubble of superiority complex, Indian cinema will continue to suffer.
More importantly, the loud and brain dead fans on Twitter need to calm down and ignore useless things. Perhaps one day, we will be able to overcome such fights and indeed make great films.
