For the birthday of actor Ranbir Kapoor today, the makers of ‘Shamshera’ have dropped the first look poster featuring the star and fans have gone into a tizzy! The upcoming period action drama film from the house of Yash Raj Films has instantly began trending and Ranbir’s look in the film is all people are talking about. Directed by Karan Malhotra (of ‘Agneepath’ fame), the film stars Ranbir Kapoor along with Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Filming of ‘Shamshera‘ began long back in December 2018, but was delayed due to the pandemic and is now set to hit theatres on 18th March 2022.
The teaser poster was released with the tagline, “A legend will rise” and shows Ranbir with long hair and a mark on his forehead, that the makers call ‘the mark of Shamshera’. Set in the 1800s during the pre-Independence era, the film is an Indian adaptation of Howard Pyle’s ‘Merry Adventures of Robin Hood’. The plotline centers around a deceit tribe who fought against the British for their rights and freedom. ‘Shamshera’ will see actor Ranbir in a never-before-seen avatar and features Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist.
Actor Ranbir is on a roll with a string of releases next year. Apart from ‘Shamshera’, he also has in the pipeline, Luv Ranjans next with Shraddha Kapoor, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ with Parineeti Chopra, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol that is all set to hit the screens on Dussehra 2022, as well as ‘Brahmastra’ with Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles.
