“Sharmaji Namkeen” helmed by Hitesh Bhatia is slated to hit Amazon Prime Video on March 31. The much anticipated trailer has been finally dropped, showing Rishi Kapoor for the final time on screen. In the first time in Indian Cinema, we see two veteran actors in the same role, as Rishi Kapoor passed away before completing this project, thus landing this role to Paresh Rawal.
The ensemble cast includes late Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha and Isha Talwar. “Sharmaji Namkeen” is bankrolled by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment in association with Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey of MacGuffin Pictures.
Rishi Kapoor’s last movie promises to showcase a relatable, wholesome compilation of various events, self-realisation and a whole new discovery of a retired middle-class widower who takes up any chores to stay indulged into some kind of an activity and keeps himself away from loneliness.
After numerous discoveries and adventures, he finds happiness as he unearth a passion within himself for cooking after connecting with a women’s kitty group. However the road wasn’t all black and white and he faced many adversities, with one being his son not agreeing to his atypical ways and approach towards life.
The official synopsis reads as: “BG Sharma is a 58-year-old widower, one of millions of faceless people in this mundane routine called life. One fine day, the company he was working for, lays him off. Thud! Life comes to a standstill. Sharma struggles to cope with this beast called retirement.
