The much anticipated follow-up season to ‘She’ premiered on Netflix India last friday. The show entered Netflix Top 10 exactly on the day of release and in three days made its way to bag the coveted #1 position surpassing CBI 5: The Brain.
The first season of the show was trending on Top 10 for weeks since the teaser of the second season dropped, hinting at more people watching and re-watching the show before the premiere of season two. This clearly shows the interest audience gradually developed for the show over-time.
The pilot season revolved around a poor female police officer in the Indian Police Force who has to battle domestic abuse at home while also being the sole bread winner of a family with an ill mother and a sister. She happens to join the Anti-Narcotics Group to bust drug cartels by disguising herself as a sex worker in Mumbai.
The second season of the show picks up from where the first season left off. Bhoomi holds on to her act as a sex worker fulfilling her duties as an undercover agent to infiltrate the racket of drug cartel-gangster Nayak (played by Kishore Kumar G.). As she makes her way into Nayak’s good-books, Bhoomi has to deal with her own sprouting sexuality and struggle for survival with no one by her side.
The second season is also written by Imtiaz Ali and Divya Johry. ‘She’ is produced by Imtiaz Ali through his ‘Window Seat Films’. Kishore Kumar G, Vishwas Kini, Shivani Rangole, Sam Mohan, Suhita Thatte, Saqib Ayub, Sandeep Dhabale, Rohit Kokate, Mohammad Ali Baig, and Resh Lamba are a part of the second season’s core cast alongside Aaditi Pohankar and Vijay Verma.
‘She’ is one of those rare Netflix Originals that had people talking about it, good or bad since day One. One of the reasons being Imtiaz Ali’s involvement in the series in writing and producing capacity. Another being Aaditi Pohankar’s star-making turn as Bhoomi. Even if we keep aside both the factors, She season One was indeed well made. And with the announcement and arrival of season 2, quite expectedly the curiosity grew.
