Telugu cinema has a strange reputation. It captures the whistle-blowing scenes, the claps, the mass beating ups and everything that is related to serving mass. Needless to say, the stars enjoy a Demi-God status and it is all because of the style of filmmaking predominant in Tollywood.
Now, when it comes to art cinema then Tollywood rarely stands out in the conversation. We talk about Bengali films, Hindi films and even Malayalam to a great extent.
But, there is this one particular Telugu indie film that is trying to bust this myth. We are talking about Sheeshmahal.
The film was directed by Camp Sasi and features 4 different stories about 4 people. Their daily life is subverted after a 5-day event regarding cinema.
The trailer looks really really nice with dialogues not only in Telugu but also in Hindi and English.
The concept is really nice and the trailer does look good. Obviously, you can feel that it is an indie film, from the budget but yet again, it has a different beauty altogether.
There are many cinematic references like the screen presence of Gulzar that add to the charm. The film was released on a very small scale in Hyderabad on the 14th of February. It is now streaming on ETV Win and it deserves your attention.
