Popular British mystery crime drama series ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is being adapted for the Indian audience by BBC Studios India and while the casting for the show looks great, the title reflects makers lack of attention towards it.
The Indian version is named ‘Shekhar Home’ and that definitely makes least sense. More so it looks pretty childish trying to derive a non-sensical Hindi version out of the original title.
After the title reveal on social media netizens have rightly slammed and mocked it, blaming the makers for being so unserious. While the cast and crew look very promising, the title is a major turn off and the makers should seriously decide on a more interesting name for the show to avoid being made a joke.
‘Shekhar Home’ has reportedly begun shooting in Kolkata and is helmed by acclaimed National Award winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji. ‘Shekhar Home’ stars Key Key Menon as the Indian counterpart of Sherlock Holmes, Ranvir Shorey will play the role equivalent to Dr. Watson, Rasika Dugal is the Indian Irene Adler, Usha Uthup as Mrs. Hudson and Kaushik Sen as Mycroft Holmes.
The original British version of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories and was created by Steve Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The Primetime Emmy Award winning series starred Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in lead roles and had four seasons that are all currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
