The trailer of much awaited war action drama, Dharma Productions’ ‘Shershaah‘ starring Sidharth Malhotra is out and we have one word for it- Dhamakedaar!
The film is based on the life of Kargil war hero and Param Vir Chakra recipient, Late Captain Vikram Batra. The 24-year-old commander of the Indian army, was instrumental in capturing the crucial peak Point 4875, sacrificing his life. A tale of courage, duty and sacrifice, the trailer itself leaves you high on patriotism. Packed with grand visuals and great dialogues, the film looks like a blockbuster on all levels. The war and action scenes look brilliantly executed and Sidharth does full justice to the role. Indeed, Yeh Dil Maange More!
The cast also includes Kiara Advani, Shiv Pandit, Sahil Vaid, Nikitan Dheer, Raj Arjun and Javed Jaffrey in important roles. ‘Shershaah’ marks the Bollywood directorial debut of Vishnu Varadhan, who has previously given us Tamil hits like ‘Billa’ and ‘Arambham’. The lead cast Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, along with producer Karan Johar and the team went to Kargil earlier today for the trailer launch. The film announced in 2019, was initially slated for a theatrical release in July 2020 before it got postponed due to the pandemic. Co-produced by Kaash Entertainment and written by Sandeep Srivastava, it will release on Amazon Prime Video on August 12th.
The film’s earlier released teaser showed a mix of film footage along with real footage of the Kargil War – India’s first televised war, including a clip of Captain Batra himself, revealing that his code name was ‘Sher Shah’. It was reported earlier that Sidharth Malhotra would play a double role in the movie- that of Captain Vikram Batra and of his twin brother, Vishal.
While Kiara’s last few movies have had a good run at the box office, this film will surely revive the career of talented Malhotra, last seen in Marjaavan. If the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like this is Sidharth’s finest performance yet! Here’s wishing him and the team all the very best. We can’t wait for the film’s release on 12th August!
