They said it’s the new “Game Of Thrones,” and “Shōgun” is indeed something special. As it’s currently streaming, the ratings scream that the show is something exceptional: 9.2 on IMDb and 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. These numbers indicate how successful the show really is.
And as we celebrate statistics, there’s more to this, as “Shōgun” offered a historically significant debut.
Speaking of the premiere, the series “Shōgun” has garnered 9 million views worldwide within its first six days on Hulu, Disney+, and Star+.
It’s the top scripted series debut for Disney General Entertainment, surpassing “The Kardashians” Season 1, and the leading premiere for an FX series on Hulu in the U.S., outpacing “The Bear” Season 2.
Based on the James Clavell novel, “Shōgun” did manage to create a buzzy scenario, and it’s only getting better from here. If the show manages to maintain this strong performance, it has all the potential to be a new ‘Classic.’
In comparison, “Game Of Thrones” had a similar opening. The first season, on average, had a viewership of 9.3 million. These numbers kind of bring both worlds together, especially when it comes to the comparison. “Shōgun” has every chance to be as big as “GOT” if they manage everything in the right order and in the right way.
