Fresh off the heels of the success of Amazon Prime Video’s war film ‘Shershaah’, the release date of Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra’s next film ‘Mission Majnu’ has just been announced. RSVP Movies’ official Twitter handle has revealed the film’s theatrical release date, which is 13th May 2022.
The post was marked with the words “Get ready to be a part of India’s greatest covert operation that derailed Pakistan’s illicit Nuclear Ambitions! Inspired by real events, #MissionMajnu releasing on 13th May 2022 in a cinema near you”. The post was accompanied by a still from ‘Mission Majnu’ featuring the film’s lead actor Sidharth Malhotra.
Helmed by Shantanu Bagchi in his feature film directorial debut, ‘Mission Majnu’ is a spy thriller that ostensibly revolves around a R&AW agent who leads India’s most audacious and daring covert operation in the heart of Pakistan. The film is set in the 1970s period and is reportedly based on true events.
‘Mission Majnu’ has been penned by acclaimed writers Aseem Arrora (Lucknow Central, Malang, Chhalaang, Bell Bottom) and Parveez Sheikh (Queen, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Phantom), and Sumit Batheja.
Besides Sidharth Malhotra, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and ‘Mission Majnu’ would mark the actress’s Bollywood debut. A few months back, the actress had announced filming wrap for her portions for her first Hindi language film.
Sidharth Malhotra, who had made his acting debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’, went on to star in an interesting blend of films such as ‘Ek Villain’, ‘Kapoor & Sons’, ‘Brothers’, ‘A Gentleman’, ‘Ittefaq’, ‘Aiyaary’, and the most recent ‘Shershaah’. His upcoming film projects include Indra Kumar’s comedy film ‘Thank God’, Abhinay Deo’s ‘Aankhen 2’, and Varhdhan Ketkar’s untitled ‘Thadam’ remake.
