Sikandar Ka Muqaddar: New or Just Another Cliché Heist Drama?

Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, directed by Neeraj Pandey, is scheduled to premiere on Netflix. Although the trailer suggests an intriguing diamond heist, it is unclear if the film will be able to overcome the mediocrity that frequently characterizes the heist genre in Indian cinema. Even if the idea may seem exciting, people are actually growing weary of repetitive stories that don’t provide much depth or uniqueness.

These days, heist films are commonplace due to their reliance on well-known clichés: the meticulous planner, unsuspecting victims, and betrayal in the end. Unfortunately, it appears that Sikandar Ka Muqaddar is an example of the same pitfalls.

It appears that even Neeraj Pandey, who is renowned for his intricate storylines, relies more on cliches than on creative narrative. It appears that the characters are stereotypes rather than fully realized people with interesting motivations. If people want to witness the same repetitive routines, they can watch any of the classic films, such as “Special 26” or even Hollywood’s “Army of Thieves”.

Additionally, because that genre spends the most of its runtime focused on action and suspense, it may draw more attention than character development. Avinash Tiwary and Tamannaah Bhatia are both talented performers, however their abilities could not be fully utilized for this kind of role.

The audience wants its storylines to start tearing down the layers of the human condition and tearing into some social laws, but they also want glitzy heists and heart-pounding sequences. What’s left of Sikandar Ka Muqaddar is a lackluster contribution in a genre that is already oversaturated.

Secondly, Sikandar Ka Muqaddar faces fierce competition due to the vast amount of content that streaming apps are generating globally. A heist movie that isn’t very original or unusual would have a very difficult time fitting in, whether it’s the general public watching in front of the screen or top-tier international storytelling defying convention and taking the risk to be creative.

Even though Sikandar Ka Muqaddar promises excitement and thrills, it must deal with the audience’s resentful expectations in this evolving cinematic period. It runs the risk of being just another forgettable movie in a genre that requires a refreshing shock unless it offers anything fresh or delves into a character’s mind. Neeraj Pandey is talented enough to produce something truly amazing.

We don’t yet know if he would accomplish this with this project.
