‘Sita Ramam’, ‘Karthikeya 2’, ‘Bimbisara’: Telugu Films Showing How Its Done

August has been a fabulous month for Telugu film industry and thus creating good hopes for the film industry throughout the nation. Whether it’s a love story like ‘Sita Raman’, an adventure thriller like ‘Karthikeya 2’ or a fantasy action like ‘Bimbisara’, Telugu films this month have been rocking it all.

Barring a few profitable Telugu films in between this year such as ‘Bheema Nayak’, ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Major’ among others there wasn’t a consistent wave created in a single month itself at the box office in 2022 so far.

But August has been quite different, not only the recent releases like Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s ‘Bimbisara’, Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur’s ‘Sita Ramam’ and ‘Nikhil Siddhartha’s ‘Karthikeya 2’ have done well commercially but also received acclaim from audience and critics alike.

It’s not just the Telugu speaking audience that has loved these movies but others too have praised them. Thanks to the world of Internet and social media, the words have spread far and wide for these films thus creating newer markets.

This is evident from the fact that ‘Sita Raman’ is set to release in Hindi now on 2nd September, 20 days post its initial release in Telugu and having collected ₹75+ crores gross worldwide.

Compare this to the lacklustre performance of the Hindi film industry in August, it’s more than disappointing. All the Bollywood biggies released this month such as Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’, Aamir Khan’s ’Laal Singh Chaddha’, Taapsee’s ‘Dobaaraa’ or Vijay Deverakonda’s ’Liger’ failed to live up to expectations.

And this isn’t just about the box office numbers , these above mentioned Hindi films could not satisfy the critics and audience as well. All that hype created through marketing and promotions could not save them. Looks like it’s the right time Hindi film industry learns how it’s done from the their Telugu friends.
