Sometimes when you watch a trailer of a film, chances are you get blown away with its grandeur and massiveness and sometimes, it doesn’t even impact you one bit. But then comes a few trailers such as the trailer of Skater Girl, which can give you a fresh perspective and a feel-good factor concerning the film.
Yes, Netflix has just dropped the trailer of Indian-American sports drama Skater Girl and it’s bound to make you fall in love with the concept. The story of Skater Girl centers on Prerna, a teenage tribal girl in Rajasthan who discovers skateboarding after a British-Indian woman, Jessica coincidentally visits her village and introduces skateboarding to other children of the village. Prerna and Jessica face the backlash of the villagers along the way who do not support the girls playing with skateboards, leaving everything else behind.
Skater Girl will mark the return of one of the most renowned Indian actresses, Waheeda Rehman after a long time as the Maharani. Apart from her, the film will feature Rachel Sanchita Gupta as Prerna and British actress Amrit Maghera as Jessica along with Shafin Patel as Ankush. Manjari Makijany, the daughter of Mac Mohan, the man famous for portraying villainous roles in ’70s Hindi films including Sholay, will be directing the film. The story is co-written by her and Vinati Makijany, who also co-produced the film through their Indian production company Mac Productions.
Skater Girl is scheduled to release on 11th June, 2021 via Netflix and it looks like the film will surely garner attention and recognition with its fantastic theme and rural charm.
