After a disappointing run in theatres, Sky Force has finally arrived on Prime Video, and the response has been mixed. While some viewers are enjoying the film, others are completely rejecting it.
Starring Akshay Kumar, Sky Force is based on India’s first airstrike during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. The film had a lot of potential, but many felt it was let down by a clichéd screenplay and poor VFX. The theatrical audience didn’t seem interested, leading to low box-office numbers.
However, things are slightly different on OTT. Many viewers on Prime Video are praising the film for its performances and action sequences. Unlike in theatres, where people expect a full cinematic experience, OTT audiences seem to be more forgiving. They are appreciating the film’s intent rather than focusing too much on its flaws.
This divide between theatrical and OTT audiences isn’t new. People watching at home tend to have lower expectations, making them more willing to overlook weak storytelling or average effects. But in a lot of cases, the situations are totally reversed and even huge blockbusters like Stree 2 face trolling. Some fans believe Sky Force deserves a second chance, while others feel it remains a missed opportunity.
Despite the mixed reactions, the film has sparked some buzz online. Whether loved or criticized, Sky Force is at least getting people to talk—which is more than it managed to do in cinemas.
Thank-God! Didn't waste money to watch #SkyForce @akshaykumar @JyotiDeshpande what an Ill thought and Ill made movie. No research no thought had to stop half way on @PrimeVideoIN stop taking such films else @NetflixIndia is better
