Sky High: Netflix Brings Spanish Hit Before Series Adaptation Launches

Last year was one of the worst years for film industries and theatres worldwide. The COVID-19 spread out, all around rapidly and as we all know, out of so many countries Spain was one of the worst hit countries. As normalcy started to come back again, by the end of last year, movies started to release. One of the Spanish movies that released last year in theatres around Spain was “Sky High”, despite the movie releasing in August, the movie became one of the highest grossing domestic films of 2020 by the end of the year.

The movie had sufficient competitions from “Wonder Woman: 1984” and “The Croods: New Age”. It was during the holidays, which turned the game altogether for the movie as that helped it to set the record at the domestic Box Office for Spain. With all these happening, the movie’s global rights were acquired by Netflix, and with the rights with them Netflix decided to give this its own twist.

Netflix declared that they will be producing a series based on the movie. This was declared at the end of the year in 2020. Netflix teamed up with the producers of the movie, “Vaca Films” for producing the series too. The production house is known for producing “The Mess You Leave Behind” series for Netflix.

Now, with all the plans going on for the series, Netflix has decided to bring the movie first for the viewers to enjoy so that they can have the idea as to what more will be coming. Sky High is coming to Netflix worldwide on the 2nd of April, 2021. The movie tells the story of a team of criminals, who after meeting each other plans small heists all over. Led by Ángel, who has fallen head over heels in love with Estrella, the team spreads out and starts making their mark in the world of crime in Madrid.

But being known in the world of crime comes at a price, as their heists get bigger and they run faster with their cars, a detective gets aware of them now. Making this sole mission the detective and his team is now ready to nab these criminals once and for all. The ending for the movie is what will be important, as this is the very part the upcoming series will begin from.

Miguel Herrán, famous for playing Rio in “Money Heist” and also Christian in “Élite” essays the role of Angel in the movie. Carolina Yuste, Asia Ortega, César Mateo and Luis Tosar play pivotal roles in the movie. The film is gritty and exciting in every sense, and Netflix took the perfect decision of bringing it before it launches the sequel for the movie.
