What was supposed to be a bright spring day has turned into a night of the new moon, or an unfortunate eclipse, as the future is looking too dark. Especially with Part One falling flat, there wasn’t much interest from Netflix to promote the film either.
The studio did a poor job with advertising, especially compared to the first part; the second part received much less exposure, which is reflected in the statistics as well.
During the first week’s run, “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” had a view count of 21.4 million. Releasing on April 19th, it garnered good numbers in three days, but the second week’s run practically signals that it isn’t working.
For the current week, the film received a total view count of 18.8 million, which is definitely weak performance considering it had its first full week’s run.
Now, what is the future of the franchise?
Given that Snyder had plans for a six-movie franchise for “Rebel Moon,” that seems like an impossible task, especially with the ignorable reviews and ratings. It’s better that Snyder and Netflix put “Rebel Moon” to rest.
Of course, Snyder will be working for Netflix in the near future, particularly with the new animation series “Twilight Of The Gods”; fans are excited about this newest project. Besides that, Snyder needs to make something good out of the director’s cut; otherwise, the entire thing will turn into a mockery.
