Reality Shows are hardly real; it is an open secret that TV channels and streaming platforms don’t like to acknowledge. But, as a genre, it is officially called a reality show.
Also, the audience’s reaction certainly forces them to change that after a while. Especially for ad-less streaming platforms like Netflix India, things are even tougher because the consistency of cringe can be even more dangerous.
Netflix started June with Scoop which is easily one of the best series to have ever come out in India. But, their second series in June is called Social Currency.
It is an absolutely torturous show which is filled with toxicity. It is their second reality show after In Real Love abbreviated as IRL.
Social Currency puts a bunch of so-called influencers in a villa where they are expected to do some random stuff without any phone.
The overall concept may have been good but it is executed in such a terrible manner that it is best to stay away from it.
Social Currency is like a Pandora’s Box, the premise of it being so bad may sound tempting just to see how bad it can be. But, it’ll be a total waste of time after you’ve done watching.
We hope for better things from Netflix India.
