Close on the heels of the web debuts of Jacqueline Fernandez, Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta, Kajol and Karisma Kapoor, and the impending ones of Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif, comes news that another Bollywood diva will make her digital debut very soon. And it is none other than Soha Ali Khan. Soha will follow in the footsteps of big brother Saif Ali Khan. Saif tasted astounding success with his debut OTT show, Sacred Games, and will soon be seen in the Amazon Prime Video show, Dilli.
If reports are to be believed, Soha Ali Khan will debut in Disney Plus Hotstar’s upcoming show, ‘Kaun Banega Shekhawati’. Earlier titled Shekhawati, the upcoming series is produced by filmmaker Nikkhil Advani and content specialist, Sameer Nair, under their individual production houses, Emmay Entertainment and Applause Entertainment respectively. Applause Entertainment, as you must know, is the content production arm of the Aditya Birla Group.
Soha Ali Khan will play one of the daughters of a rigid and aging Rajasthani King, who has four daughters. The show stars Naseeruddin Shah (his second show after Bandish Bandits) as the king. Lara Dutta (who was in Disney Plus Hotstar’s Hundred earlier), Anya Singh and Kritika Kamra play his other three daughters, besides Soha Ali Khan.
There’s also news that Raghubir Yadav has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the Hotstar Specials series. There’s no information on what his role is about, though. Kaun Banega Shekhawati is reportedly based on the hit 2015 Marathi film, Rajwade And Sons.
Kaun Banega Shekhawati will be directed by Gauravv K Chawla, who made his debut with the Bollywood flick Bazaar, starring Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte.
The show had kicked off its shoot in Rajasthan, before the Coronavirus lockdown forced the makers to suspend shoot. Now that shoots have resumed, Kaun Banega Shekhawati is also gearing up to quickly resume production. Shekhawati is the name of a region in Rajasthan, and its people are also known as Shekhawati.
