Soldier Boy actor Jensen Ackles will not only star in the upcoming spin-off series, Vought Rising, but he has also onboarded the mothership’s final season, The Boys Season 5. Soldier Boy will get plenty of screen time in the final chapter of The Boys, according to showrunner Eric Kripke, apart from leading the newly announced spin-off project.
During his appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kripke talked about Soldier Boy’s reemergence in The Boys. This is what he said:
“He’s going to be in Season 5 quite a lot. We want him to be a big character. There’s a lot of good father-son emotion between him and Homelander that we never really got a chance to play that we’re really interested in.”
Season 3 revealed that Homelander was actually Soldier Boy’s biological son, created by Vought. A few years before the Russians captured him, Soldier Boy provided some of his semen samples to Jonah Vogelbaum, a scientist at Vought, for genetic experimentation. Vogelbaum used those samples to create Homelander as a more powerful replacement for Soldier Boy.
Despite Soldier Boy calling Homelander “a f*cking disappointment” in the third season, it will be interesting to see how Kripke and this team tackle the father-son dynamic between these extremely powerful and wicked supes in Season 5.
Additionally, we will see Soldier Boy in the prequel series, Vought Rising, which will be set in 1950s New York City. The series’ events will revolve around a mysterious murder mystery, and explore the origins of Vought International and the history behind Compound V. Moreover, the project will also shed light on Soldier Boy’s connection with Stormfront (Aya Cash), who was known as Liberty in the early days. Moreover, Vought Rising could also focus on the events that resulted in Soldier Boy leading the superhero faction, Payback.
Amazon is yet to reveal the release window of both Vought Rising and The Boys Season 5. According to rumours, these projects may arrive on Prime Video in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates.
