Something Is Horribly Wrong With Indian Awards!

With a lot of analysis, we can most definitely say that Indians are making good films. It’s not that the Indian film industry as a whole is bad or Hollywood/Korean films are always great. It is just that those people respect the film the way it should be done.

Take the case of Longlegs. It is not a high budget film but the whole American media and industry that gave international hype to the film.

What about Indians?

Film Federation of India sent Laapata Ladies to the Oscars and not All We Imagine As Light. Laapata Ladies is an extraordinary film and it definitely deserves to go there but Aamir Khan can definitely promote the film entirely on his own. It would have been nice if we had seen “All We Imagine As Light” as it would always have a greater chance of winning the award.

Take the case of IIFA. We do realize that it is more of a glamour show than a cinema celebration but just to make people believe in Good cinema we need to award some great films which are not really popular per se.

Consider the case of “Three Of Us”. There is no doubt about the fact that it is a fantastic film. But it didn’t win any awards, simply because it is not a glamorous film.

There is a reason Indians don’t believe in Indian awards and this is the exact reason. These Award Shows are concerned only with big stars and views. They don’t really care about great cinema and it leaves a terrible impact on the people who may wanna make great films someday in the future
