The much awaited Bangladeshi movie is going to premiere on OTT soon. The exact dates are Not revealed yet. But the movie will start streaming this November only. It will be streaming on popular Bangladeshi platform Chorki, which is also available in India and has made quite a name in West Bengal.
‘Something Like An Autobiography’ is directed by filmmaker duo Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. The movie competed in the prestigious Jiseok competition in the Busan International Film Festival. It was screened in many other film festivals and won many award.The movie tells a very self-reflective and autobiographical tale of a director and actor couple.
Farooki is a filmmaker and Tisha is an actor and they are the most popular celebrity couple in Bangladesh. The movie too tells the story of a director-actor couple who are going through many problems because of the conservative society. People nudge them for having babies, and in the lockdown, they decide to have a baby. But soon, more problems come and their lives keep on changing very fast.
About the film, Imrose Tisha has said, “Farooki’s films are generally self-reflective. Many of his life stories and anecdotes can be found in his films. But this time we knew the subject has to be us, and the cast had to be us too. For us, acting in the lead roles of this story is part of the creative expression. Any other actors playing these roles would have created completely different meanings.”
The movie is a part of a 12 film anthology for Chorki named ‘Ministry Of Love’. Farooki’s films have earned huge admiration all over the world and the actor- director duo had their films screened in Busan and other festivals multiple times. Fans from West Bengal have been waiting for the movie quite eagerly. If you have never seen a Farooki movie, this is a good place to start.
