Sony Pictures Releases Official Update, Adivi Sesh’s “Major” Now Postponed!

By Binged Bureau - May 26, 2021 @ 11:05 am

Major has been one movie that everyone has been waiting for ever since it was announced. The story, the star cast and the inspiration behind the movie was what kept people on edge and excited for the release of the movie. It was announced that the movie would be releasing on the 2nd of July, 2021 but now the makers have released an announcement on the release.

Sony Pictures, today announced that the movie which was to come in July, has now been postponed to a further date. They have mentioned how the time right now is not ideal for the release of the movie as the Covid-19 conditions around the country are still not under control and going by the looks of it at the moment, it will definitely take some more time. The makers have announced that no date has been finalised at the moment and any news related to the movie will be announced by the makers.

This doesn’t come as a surprise as many of the films have now either postponed their theatrical releases or have opted for alternative release, by releasing it in the digital platforms. Most have even started contemplating a hybrid release just like how Salman Khan’s “Radhe” was released earlier this month. While that happens, many others like Bell Bottom, Hungama 2, Mini, Sherni chose to go for a direct OTT release.

Major was announced back in 2019 and its shoot started somewhere around Feb 2020. With Covid taking over, they still were in a good position as they could complete 50% of the shoot by September. By 2021 everything was said to be done and the movie was ready for a theatrical release in 2021. “Major” stars Adivi Sesh in the lead and titular role of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Besides him, Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Prakash Jha, Revathi play significant roles in the movie. The movie is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and is produced by Sony Pictures India in association with Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies.

The movie is based on Martyr Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who has played a crucial part in taking down the terrorist of 26/11. He is hailed as a hero for his contributions to the army and his act during the terror attacks of 26/11. The movie celebrates his heroics and along with it his life and embraces his spirit of life in this beautiful movie that has been made as tribute for this great man.
