SonyLIV is doing an awesome job when it comes to acquiring OTT rights for films and it wouldn’t be wrong to say its specaility is Malayalam cinema. Its first big grab for 2025 was Unni Mukundan’s blockbuster film ‘Marco’ that premiered just a couple of days ago and now it has its hands on yet another hit Malayalam film ‘Rekhachithram’.
After a phenomenal theatrical run Asif Ali starrer ‘Rekhachithram’ is set for its OTT debut on SonyLIV. The Malayalam mystery crime thriller film by Jofin T. Chacko (‘The Priest’) will land on SonyLIV on 7th March, 2025 in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The film also stars Anaswara Rajan, Mammootty and Manoj K Jayan.
‘Rekhachithram’ follows suspended cop Vivek Gopinath who rejoins the force after a gambling scandal. Tasked with solving a 40-year-old murder case with faceless victim, he seeks redemption by cracking the long-unsolved mystery.
It wasn’t just successful commercially but ‘Rekhachithram’ also received great response from public and critics. The film has been praised for its exceptional writing, deft direction and stellar performances. Critics have also applauded the film for how seamlessly and naturally the narrative movies in and out between the past and the future.
With such great gems streaming on SonyLIV no doubt the streamer has its A game on when it comes to Malayalam cinema and the viewers couldn’t be happier.
