The prolific streaming platform brings ‘Leonardo’ one of the most highly anticipated and buzzy period dramas of the year, for its Indian subscribers. What’s more, SonyLIV will premiere Leonardo in India even before the show debuts in the US and UK. Leonardo premieres in India on SonyLIV on 9th April.
Leonardo centres on the life of the towering intellectual mind that was Leonardo da Vinci, and his exceptional talent, unparalleled brilliance and sheer genius. Aidan Turner of “The Hobbit” fame portrays Leonardo in the series. Woven into the narrative is a tale of forbidden love – Da Vinci’s own – and a murder mystery, which the maverick must crack, to clear his name of a murder accusation. It all comes together to make a compelling story that everyone needs to hear.
Unlocking the enigma of the extraordinary man, the show brings the riveting back-story of one of the most fascinating artistic figures in history. Challenging the established order and with a view to inspire future generations to be curious and solve the mysteries of the world we live in, the series will attempt on exploring the lesser-known facts and stories about Da Vinci’s Life and work.
The eight-part Leonardo series comes from stellar names. It is the creation of Frank Spotnitz (X-Files, The Man in the High Castle) and Steve Thompson (Sherlock). Leonardo first premiered in Italy, where it has garnered rave reviews.
Besides Aidan Turner in the lead role, Leonardo features Oscar-nominated actor Giancarlo Giannini (Quantum of Solace), Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor), Matilda De Angelis, James D’Arcy (Dunkirk, Broadchurch) and Carlos Cuevas (Ministry of Time).
