SonyLIV Disheartens The Fans During UEFA Champions League Final

Indian OTT platforms are not disappointing when it comes to messing up sports live streams. From Hotstar’s era to JioCinema’s fumble, and now SonyLIV is the latest addition to the list. They have a lot to make up for to their fans. They are definitely testing the patience of their audience.

Firstly, the fans didn’t take the price hike before the UCL final positively, but SonyLIV somehow outdid the other platforms in one night with some major mistakes and fumbles.

The UCL final is one of the biggest nights in sports, so fans expected a seamless experience. However, things didn’t go as planned.

The entire stream was filled with hurdles. For starters, it buffered more than expected, prompting fans to complain about it on Twitter. SonyLIV responded with some generic replies.

The problem wasn’t only present in the SonyLIV app; it was also on the website.

Additionally, some users experienced sound glitches, which left a bad impression. The quality of streaming also depleted significantly, something fans are unfortunately starting to expect from all sports streams now.

Fans marked it as the worst experience in a UCL final. A similar issue occurred during the FA Cup final, yet the platform learned nothing from it, despite knowing that the UCL would have a much higher stake than any FA Cup.

If this is the future of sports streaming on OTT, it looks bleak. Although OTT makes the experience more accessible and brings it to smaller screens, linear cable was far more dependable and consistent.

While the audience won’t be going back to linear cable, OTT platforms need to improve their game more than they anticipate. The experience has been really disappointing, and OTT platforms need to fix this, or people will definitely become more frustrated.
