SonyLIV has unveiled the official trailer of ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’, starring Gagan Dev Riar as Abdul Karim Telgi.
The trailer opens with people calling Telgi a ‘khotta sikka’, ‘snake’, and ‘smart’. We see Riar’s Telgi declaring stamp paper as the key to India’s economy. The upcoming SonyLIV original is based on the real-life story of Telgi, who played a crucial role in the 2003 stamp paper counterfeiting case worth nearly 30,000 crores. It also takes inspiration from Sanjay Singh’s novel, ‘Telgi Scam: Reporter’s ki Diary’.
Apart from Gagan Dev Riar, the series stars Mukesh Tiwari, Sana Amin Sheikh, Bharat Jadhav, and Shaad Randhawa.
‘The Telgi Story’ will be the second addition to the Scam franchise after ‘Scam 1992’, which had Pratik Gandhi in the leading role of Harshad Mehta.
SonyLIV officially announced the series back in March 2022. The duo of Applause Entertainment and Studio NEXT have produced the upcoming Hansal Mehta project.
By the looks of it, Scam 2003 already looks like a winner. Gagan Dev Riar looks in fine touch. And we should expect the rest of the cast to do a brilliant job as well.
‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ will arrive on SonyLIV on September 1. Stay tuned for more updates.
