SonyLIV has dropped one of its most compelling shows of the year i.e. The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case.
It’s a gripping, well-researched series that unfolds like a political thriller, layered with tension, and real-life drama. Much of it is in Tamil, which makes sense, given the setting and people involved. Reason? The Sri Lankan movement was the reason Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. But that also means that for non-Tamil speaking audiences, subtitles aren’t optional, they’re essential.
And here’s where things start to go downhill.
Viewers watching the show on Airtel Xstream have been left completely stranded, as the subtitles are missing. This glitch, which should’ve been fixed immediately, has now become a major barrier for audiences who were genuinely curious about the show.
This isn’t the first time SonyLIV has faced backlash for platform-related issues. While the content on SonyLIV has always been amazing with shows like Scam 1992, Rocket Boys, and now The Hunt, the app experience still lags behind.
Basic things like subtitle support, smooth streaming, or even playback syncing are often missing or inconsistent.
It’s unfortunate because The Hunt deserves a national audience. But when your app can’t support a basic viewing experience, even the most powerful stories can fall flat.
SonyLIV has the content. What it needs now is to step up on the tech side. Otherwise, people will stop clicking, no matter how good the show is.
