Tamil Star Hero Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru (Aakasam Nee Haddura in Telugu) is all set to skip its theatrical release and is releasing directly on Amazon Prime Video. The movie will have its Digital Premiere on November 12th as Diwali Special. The movie is loosely based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath who started India’s first Budget Airline, Air Deccan.
Hailing from Karnataka, Gopinath in an interview said, “I would have been happier if Kannada filmmakers had grabbed the opportunity first”. The movie, however, is going to have a Kannada dub now.
Gopinath also revealed that late actor Girish Karnad when he was alive, advised him to give the film rights to his book to the Kannada filmmakers. He said Girish Karnad wanted to don the greasepaint once again if the Biopic was made in Kannada.
Soorarai Pottru is the story of how a retired army officer dreams of starting an airline business with just Rs 6000 in his pocket. The story is all about the insults, red-tapism, and negative energy pulling back while he tries to achieve his dream.
