Sooryavanshi is finally coming to the theatres and this has fans excited all the more. The movie has waited for almost a year now for the release. It was supposed to release back in 2020, but the inevitable COVID-19 pandemic put an end to the 2020 release dreams. But, they hopes of it coming back again rose, as theatres are opening up again and after the Ministry of I & B has declared the allowance of 100% occupancy in theatres, it already looks like the movie will be the first hit from Bollywood in theatres after the pandemic.
We already in our earlier report mentioned that the makers of Sooryavanshi are going through deals with the exhibitors regarding various terms that earlier would have been different. The fresh news that’s coming up is that the makers of the movie have asked for 70% of the revenue generated, which is 20% higher than pre-COVID terms. Earlier for movies it used to be 50% of the revenue generated. Apart from that, another major demand from the makers has been that the movie will be released in OTT within the period of 28 days, which is 4 weeks. Earlier this used to be 8 weeks at the latest.
This new deal seems to have been accepted by the multiplex owners as this will be one of the biggest movies released in the theatres from Bollywood after the pandemic. We already have seen the news that stated how theatre owners have reacted as “Master” released in OTT, just within 15 days but it still went on to have a strong presence in the theatres irrespective of the fact that it released on OTT too.
After and during the pandemic, theatre was one of such businesses that was badly hit and just when things were getting back to normal for them and as they waited for the big movies to release in theatres first, such deals will definitely hit them hard. Even if movies released in OTT together don’t, the revenue collection is greater than the earlier ones which they are used to, it most definitely will make them go through a great loss.
For now we hope that the movie Sooryavanshi does a great job, as it is being expected from it in the theatres making not only fans and makers happy but also the other members which are part of this process happy too.
