Sophia DiMartino’s Sylvie is undoubtedly one of the best things about the Loki Disney+ series. During the final moments of Season 2, the character’s future looks ambiguous as she does not know what to do next. In the same way, DiMartino also does not know what the future holds for Sylvie in the MCU. She also believes her return to the MCU will “surprise” everyone.
“I would love to see Sylvie do anything, I think whatever she does, she’s going to do it with fight and she would probably surprise everyone by doing something that you don’t expect. I’m very fond of that character,” DiMartino said.
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is a complex character in the MCU. Life was not easy for him. And Sophia DiMartino’s Sylvie is also a Loki, if not the main one. She is a completely different variation of him with a completely different backstory. It was TVA that made her life a living hell due to her involvement in a Nexus event in her childhood. But she was a child only back then. She could not have realized the consequences of her actions at such a young age. This forces her to take revenge on TVA in Season 1. During the first season’s final moments, we see her slaughtering He Who Remains as the latter’s TVA ruined her life. Her decision to kill He Who Remains was selfish, as she knew her actions would sacrifice her friendship with Loki and completely destabilize the Multiverse.
In Loki Season 2, we witness a more mature version of Sylvie. She chooses a life of isolation and builds a new life in a version of 1980s Oklahoma. Plus, she starts working at McDonald’s. Yes, it did not look much, but it was honest work for her. In addition, she wanted to kill Victor Timely because he reminded her of He Who Remains, but she forgave him at Loki’s request. Moreover, she confronted Loki and made him realize the difference between right and wrong, ultimately helping him decide what to do in Season 2’s finale.
Fans may see Sophia DiMartino returning as Sylvie in Loki Season 3 (which is yet to be officially announced by Marvel Studios) or in a spinoff based on her character. Let’s see what happens. Stream Loki on the Disney+ streaming platform. Stay tuned for more updates.
