Netflix is putting more efforts into the growth of the Japanese slate and now comes another announcement. Japan and Korea will be collaborating for a new project on Netflix.
The show is titled ‘Soul Mate’ and it will bd a gay romance. It will chronicle the 10 year romantic journey of a Japanese man and a Korean man. Isomura Hayato plays the role of the Japanese who leaves his old life behind and in a foreign land, his life is put to threat. Ok Taec-yeon plays the Korean man who saves him and then they follow a common journey together. The official description of ‘Soul Mate’ is “profound journey of souls connecting and enduring over the years despite the distance.”
The show is written and directed by up-and-coming creator Hashizume Shunki who is known for previously projects like ‘Scroll’ and ‘More Than Words’. The makers have said, “We arrived at the ultimate destiny story, where people from different cultures and backgrounds meet in a foreign land and their lives intersect. The story, filled with life’s joys and pains, combined with the exceptional performances from Isomura and Taec-yeon, will warm the hearts of viewers.”
The audience for Korean drama is growing day by day and the Japanese content industry too is stunning the world with unique concepts for a very long time. A collaboration between the two industries might come up with a very wonderful project on Netflix.
