Sourav Ganguly’s Biopic Will Not Go As Smooth As Expected!

As per reports, Ayushman Khurana has exited the Sourav Ganguly biopic that was titled be directed by Luv Ranjan. There were many speculations about the film and rumours were there that Ranbir Kapoor or Hrithik Roshan is going to play the role of the retired cricket captain. But finally, Ayushman Khurana was roped in and fans were excited.

But the actor has withdrawn himself from the project and the reason might be the oversaturation of biopics in Bollywood. None of the Hindi biopics are working well at the box office recently and it might be a huge risk to start doing another biopic.

But apart from that, there are few other complications that the movie might face. Taking the recent political and social condition of West Bengal in consideration, we can say that this might be a very bad time to work on a biopic of Sourav Ganguly. The unwritten status of the ‘face of Bengal’ has been ripped off from the star cricketer and he is being heavily criticised for his comments about the rape-and-murder incident of a junior doctor. In Bengal, and in other places where there is the protest still going on, there is hardly any anticipation for a Sourav Ganguly movie and it might as well be boycotted at the time of its release.
