The universe of Spider-Man is rejuvenated, with its ups and downs, and all the studios actively working on any Spider-Man content are probably going nuts. The recent update about Spider-Man Noir might just be the prime example.
Talking about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, one of the fun aspects of the film was definitely Spider-Man Noir, and as the previous updates state, there will definitely be a follow-up live-action series.
Nicolas Cage might continue playing the role in the live-action series.
Now, though we didn’t see him in Beyond The Spider-Verse, we can definitely state that Cage and his Spider-Man Noir provided a different spice, far from the colorful aesthetics of any other Spider-Man.
And, though I personally am not a big fan of Cage’s charisma, he might be a good fit for the role, as this version of Spider-Man will definitely benefit from someone who looks experienced.
Talking about this exact matter, Cage just shared some beautiful insights at SXSW 2024:
“Well, I can say that we have been talking. It’s no secret that I love the character. I think the character provides another mash-up of sorts. I can combine my favorite golden age performances, i.e. Robinson, Cagney, Bogart, with a character that is, I guess, widely considered [to be] Stan Lee’s masterpiece. I see it as a kind of foray into a pop art mash-up of, sort of, a [Jungian] Lichtenstein, mash-up by way of Bogart and Cagney, but nothing’s definitive yet. It’s just a conversation.”
Also, if you don’t know who Spider-Man Noir is, you definitely are missing out.
Spider-Man Noir is a web-slinging detective from a dark, 1930s New York City (Earth-Noir). Unlike the classic Spider-Man, he’s a grizzled reporter named Peter Parker who gains powers from a spider-god encounter. Noir fights crime with a cynical edge, battling mobsters and corruption in a black-and-white world with one of the coolest Spider-Man aesthetics.
