‘Spiderman: Across The Spider-Verse’ is now available to rent on BMS Stream, Amazon Prime Video and Zee5. What is rather shocking is that the movie is made available in 10 different languages. Apart from English, it is also available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi and Marathi.
Most movies are usually streamed or made available for rent in 3 to 4 languages. Hindi, Tamil and Telugu are the most common choices. Sometimes there are rare exceptions of Kannada and Malayalam too. But a Hollywood animated movie in Bengali, Marathi or Gujarati, that does not happen very much.
‘Spiderman: Across The Spider-Verse’ is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. It is the sequel to ‘Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse’. The animated franchise tells the story of a young boy Miles Morales who gets bitten by a radio active spider and gets spider powers. He then meets Spider people from other dimensions to fight Kingpin, a crime lord and other villains. Across The Spider-Verse has broken many records and it is Sony’s highest grossing animated movie of all time.
It is a good thing that high scale Hollywood movies are getting streamed in so many regional languages. Watching a movie with subtitles is not every body’s cup of tea. A huge part of the audience likes to have the movie in the language of their comfort. And ‘Spider-Verse: Across The Spider-Verse’ is a great start.
