Sports Drama ‘CLAP’ Teaser Out: Aadhi Shines As Inspiring Athlete

The teaser of actor Aadhi‘s new bilingual sports drama ‘Clap‘ just dropped. Written and directed by Prithvi Adithya, with music composed by the genius Illayaraja, the film sees Aadhi in the role of a runner, who’s story seems nothing short of inspiring. ‘Clap’ also stars Aakanksha Singh, Nassar and Prakash Raj in important roles and will release in Tamil and Telugu. The Telugu version of the teaser was released earlier this evening by veteran actor Chiranjeevi, whereas the Tamil variation was released by actors Arya and Karthi.

The teaser starts off with a recognizable pulse, showing Aadhi as a talented athlete (albeit with serious anger management issues), in love with a girl (played by Singh). The one and a half minute long teaser invokes otherwise predictable feelings, till it nears the end. The twist comes when we see the athlete with an amputated leg. The camera angle is brilliantly taken at a gradual pace, such that the harsh reality hits you only after a couple of seconds. The shocking twist suddenly elevates the plotline to another level, pushing you to remember the earlier mentioned dialogue- “any runner with two legs cannot be a winner!”

Speaking about the film, Aadhi, in an interview with TOI, earlier said, “This is my first sports film. My brother is a sportsman and I realised that athletes live in a different world. It was interesting for me to travel in this world as Kathir (his character). ‘Clap’ will have so many nice moments that I was able to relate, too. I sport two looks in the film – a regular look and an athlete. I had to shed weight for the film. While I was in form for the project, the lockdown played spoilsport. I put on weight in the middle and again to knock those kilos off for the film.”

‘Clap’ certainly seems like the motivational journey of an athlete, who fights against all odds to become a true winner. In the words of lead actor Aadhi, “The true test of a champion is not whether he can triumph, but whether he can overcome obstacles!” Shooting for the film was completed last year, but the release was delayed due to the second covid wave. The film is currently in the post-production stage and we should expect some announcements and the official trailer soon.
