Homeland, one of the best-loved spy dramas in recent times, is finally premiering its new season, Season 8, on 10th February 2020. The season also happens to be its final season, a fact that is cause for much grief for the humongous number of Homeland fans.
The show, based on the Israeli TV series Prisoners of War, has been around since 2011, when it first premiered on TV and caught the imagination of viewers the world over. It has had seven seasons over the course of the last 9 years, but the time has come for the series to bid adieu after this year’s season.
Homeland streams on Showtime, but Hotstar’s tie-up with the channel ensures that Indian viewers get to watch it soon as it’s released. Even Netflix drops it in UK and several other countries almost a year after release. We’ve surely got it good, courtesy Hotstar.
Homeland is a thrilling espionage drama, featuring Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison, a Central Intelligence Agency officer who’s suffering from bipolar disorder. Her myriad missions take her to destinations that are the hotbeds of terrorism and violent activities – Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Beirut, Pakistan and the like. The series, in its seven seasons, is littered with tantalising twists and turns, which keep viewers engaged and on the edge of their seats in anticipation.
In Season 8, the finale season, Carrie is recovering from her imprisonment in a Russian gulag, when her mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), who is now National Security Advisor to the President of the USA, asks for her help in negotiating peace with the Taliban in Afghanistan. Season 8 sees Carrie navigate a mission
fraught with danger and terror.
Homeland Season 8 premieres on Hotstar on 10th February.
