Fans of Netflix’s cult Spanish show ‘Money Heist’ aka ‘La Casa de Papel’ might already be aware that its South Korean remake of the same name is already in the works. A major casting update on the ‘Money Heist’ remake is that one of the actors from the immensely popular South Korean Netflix series ‘Squid Game’ has been roped in to star in the Korean version of ‘Money Heist’.
Park Hae-Soo, who played the role of Cho Sang-Woo in the hard-hitting dystopian drama ‘Squid Game’, is set to step into the shoes of a fan-favorite character – Berlin, which was originally essayed by Pedro Alonso in the original ‘Money Heist’ series. In the Spanish version of ‘Money Heist’, Berlin was portrayed as a sadistic, terminally ill thief who is also the second-in-command to his older brother and series’ protagonist – the Professor.
Set in the Korean peninsula, the Korean remake of ‘Money Heist’ will ostensibly follow a similar hostage situation plotline masterminded by an enigmatic genius and his attempt to pull off a virtually impossible heist with the help of his skilled team.
In another news, it was also recently announced that the same character Berlin is getting his own spin-off series at Netflix. The spin-off show is expected to release on the Netflix OTT platform sometime in the year 2023.
The first volume of ‘Money Heist’ part-5 of the show began streaming on Netflix from 3rd September while the second volume will commence streaming from 3rd December. While the precise plot of the upcoming volume of the gripping heist drama is being kept under the wraps, the show would ostensibly conclude the story of the Professor and his group of robbers.
