Everyone by now know enough and more about Lee Jung-jae, the overnight Squid Game sensation. The Prime Time Emmy, Golden Globe and Gotham Award winner made his foray into film-making this year with ‘Hunt’. The espionage action thriller marked the actor’s directorial debut starring himself and his closest friend Jung Woo-sung. Hunt premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival before it theatrically released on August 10th, 2022 to positive reception in South Korea. Hunt will be available for streaming in India on Amazon Prime Video for free in the month of December. Another good news is that the film will stream in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu as well. The OTT giant has been buying streaming rights of most South Korean Blockbusters of this year ranging from Hansan : Rising Dragon to Emergency Declaration. Lee Jung Jae-Jung Woo Sung starrer Hunt is the latest addition to this wide ranging blockbuster library.
Hunt follows Park Pyung-Ho (Lee Jung-Jae) and Kim Jung-Do (Jung Woo-Sung) who are South Korean agents for the National Security Agency. They are both elite at their jobs and also rivals. As a part of their mission to protect the President, the two men chase after a North Korean spy sent to South Korea. The two discover hidden truths about each other and things turn sour soon.
Directed and co-written by Lee Jung-Jae alongside Jo Seung-Hee, Artist Studio and Sanai Pictures bankrolled Hunt. Lee Mo-gae is the DOP and Jo Yeong-Wook composed the music and score of the film. Hunt will stream on Netflix Korea in South Korea, while the Indian rights are with Amazon Prime Video. Hansan: Rising Dragon also will be following the same format. Although Hunt is available on Prime Video for rent already, the exact free-for-subscriber streaming date is not official yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
