Srijit Mukherjee has always pushed his limits with new experiments and trying out difficult stuff in filmmaking. He has introduced many novel ideas to the Bengali film industry. Now he is planning for a cop universe in Bengali.
Vinci Da and Baishe Shrabon are two films which impressed the audiences and critics with great storytelling and suspenseful plots. Srijit Mukherjee, the director of both the films is now planning a crossover between the two. Vinci Da told the story of a dangerous serial killer who is obsessed with law and his distorted notions of justice and ACP Poddar investigates the cases and tries to catch him. Baishe Srabon, on the other hand, tells the story of Inspector Prabir Ghosh, a suspenses police officer who helps Abhijit Pakrashi in catching a serial killer obsessed with poetry.
The crossover will be a prequel and it will show the early lives of Prabir Ghosh and ACP Poddar. Baishe Srabon established a wonderful back story to Prabir and it can be easily stretched to a whole new movie. Adding Poddar’s character will definitely be a positive change. But Anirban Bhattacharya, who plays ACP Poddar has already shown his face in the Baishe Srabon universe. In Dwitiyo Purush, the sequel to the thriller, Anirban played the role of Khoka, a gangster who had romantic relations with Abhijit Pakrashi. So, there is a possibility that Abhijit’s character will not be in the movie. The movie will reportedly have a Puja release.
Srijit Mukherjee’s cop universe will be something new for the Bengali films and hopefully it will turn out to be better than the recent two or three films he has made. Anirban Bhattacharya, Prasenjit Chatterjee and many other actors will return for their roles.
