The modern-day recreation of the renowned bengali author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s “Srikanto” is finally streaming now on HoichoiTv. Directed by Sani Ghosh Ray, this Hoichoi original series stars actors Rishav Basu (as Srikanta) and Sohini Sarkar (as Rajlakshmi).
This eponymous novel revolves around Srikanta and Rajlakshmi, the two lovers who rekindles their past love for each other in a modern setting, abounding with elements of passion, betrayal, drugs, sex and nostalgia.
In the trailer we saw how after years of separation, Rajlokkhi and Srikanto meets each other, a divine conspiration by fate. Rajlokkhi immediately recognised Srikanto but him, on the other hand wasn’t able to think of her as the same person he used to admire in his life. Rajlokkhi has evolved into a matured person.
As the story unfolds, we will see how destiny revives their love story and they gets intertwined into an ardent romance. But eventually the story will take a turn as we see Rajlokkhi concealing certain secrets, and her deception leads Srikanto to substance abuse and he got addicted to drugs.
From the scenes we get to know that Rajlokkhi is an escort, and Srikanto couldn’t accept that reality. But his love for her made him to start things fresh and new between both of them.
Towards the end, things take a new turn with the arrival of Abhaya (Madhumita Sarcar) , insinuating towards a complex road. It will be very refreshing to see how this modern love story unfolds alongwith the classical touch of the old one.
