Google released its much-awaited ‘Year In Search’ lists this morning, both for India and globally. For fans of cinema and entertainment, the most interesting aspect of the annual list is the most searched films and shows this year.
Interestingly, unlike previous years, two Indian films have found a place in the list of most-searched films globally. The two films are ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. Yes, much to everyone’s surprise, this year’s most talked about Indian film ‘RRR’ fails to find a place in the Global Top Ten Most-Searched Films of 2022. The Marvel film ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ has won the coveted title of being the most-searched film of 2022.
The Top Ten Most-Searched Films on Google in 2022 for India is topped by Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Brahmastra’. 4 Bollywood films and 5 films from South India have made it to the India Top Ten list. Thor: Love And Thunder is the lone Hollywood movie to make it to the India list.
In TV shows ‘Euphoria’ beat 2022 biggie ‘House Of The Dragon’ to the top spot. Netflix hit pay dirt with its true crime series ‘The Watcher’ and ‘Dahmer’. Interestingly, the other most-talked-about show of the year, Prime Video’s ‘Rings Of Power’ failed to make it to the list of most-searched shows of 2022. The list is dominated by Netflix as expected, with 6 of the 10 Top Ten Shows from the streaming giant.
Google does not release an India-specific list of top ten most searched shows for 2022.
A big surprise this year is that two Indian songs have made it to the global list of Top Ten Most-Searched Songs On Google in 2022. The list is topped by Ali Sethi’s ‘Pasoori’, edging out Butter by BTS. ‘Srivalli’ (Javed Ali’s Hindi version) from Pushpa made it to the Top Ten on Google globally, as did ‘Chaand Baaliyan’ by Aditya A.
