Stakes Are Much Higher This Time In SonyLIV’s ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’

SonyLIV has dropped a teaser video for its much awaited upcoming original drama ’Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story’ and this time the scam is much bigger than the last time. Helmed by Hansal Mehta, ‘Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story’ will launch only on SonyLIV on 2nd September, 2023.

In the video launched today the off screen narrator tells how the Harshad Mehta scam of 1992 was nothing when compared to the scam that happened in 2003 which was worth 30,000 crores. This time the game was big and the player even bigger.

This common looking man Abdul Karim Telgi had no desire of earning money as he believed money is not earned but made. And that’s how he created the stamp paper scam that shocked the nation.

Coming from the makers of SonyLIV’s smashing hit series ‘Scam 1992’, ‘Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story’ is adapted from the book ‘Reporter ki Diary’ by journalist and news reporter Sanjay Singh who has co-written the series with Kiran Yadnyopavit.

Helmed by Hansal Mehta and directed by Tushar Hiranandani, ‘Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story’ follows the life of Telgi, born in Khanapur, Karnataka, as he became the mastermind behind one of India’s most ingenious scams, which spread across 18 states and shook the entire country. The series stars veteran theatre artist Dev Riar in the lead role.

Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Studio Next, ‘Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story’ will premiere exclusively on SonyLIV on 2nd September, 2023.
