Star-Studded Show ‘Rivals’ Tentative Release Window On Disney Plus

Content behemoth Disney Plus’ star-studded new project for its platform, titled ‘Rivals’, has set a tentative release window on the platform. The new show is slated to release on Disney Plus and Disney Plus Hotstar in India in the first half of 2024.

Disney Plus’ upcoming ‘Rivals’ is an adaptation of the 1988 Jilly Cooper novel of the same name. The series features a star-studded ensemble cast, including David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, Lisa McGrillis, Alex Hassell, Emily Atack, Claire Rushbrook, Oliver Chris, Lisa McGrillis, Rufus Jones, Luke Pasqualino and Catriona Chandler and Danny Dyer, among others.

The story of Rivals is perfect for adaptation into a series, what with lots of romantic drama, sexual politics, intrigue and iconic characters in the narrative. David Tennant stars as Lord Tony Baddingham, the controller of Corinium Television in Rivals. Alex Hassell plays dashing ex-Olympian, Tory Member of Parliament, incorrigible rake and dangerously charismatic Rupert Campbell-Black.

The series is narrated through the lens of the fictional Corinium Television, and is set in the cutthroat world of British television. As per the official synopsis for Rivals, “In the fictional county of Rutshire, a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over”.

The book series is racy enough to expect that its television adaptation will be saucy and sassy. As of now, there’s no confirmed release date for the 8-part series ‘Rivals’. Stay tuned to Binged for further updates on the new Disney Plus series.
